Frequently asked questions

Weekend events require a minimum spend of £15,000 to open the venue, as 116 Pall Mall only operates during weekdays normally. This minimum applies to the total event cost including venue hire, catering, and any additional services.

Standard venue hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays. Early access before 8:00am or late access after 5:00pm incurs additional charges of £1,250 + VAT per hour. Events can be extended until 1:00am with these hourly charges applying.

A 50% deposit is required within 14 days of signing the contract to secure your booking. The deposit payment deadline can be extended in some cases, such as the example where it was extended to the end of September for a March event. Payment can be made by BACs transfer, over the phone, or via payment link (AMEX not accepted via payment link).

Contracts must be signed to secure your date and space, with specific signing deadlines provided (such as Friday 1st August in one example). The contract requires signatures on both Page 4 and Page 6 to be valid. Cancellation terms and conditions apply immediately after contract signing.

Dates can be held provisionally, but other clients may also have provisional holds on the same date. If another client wants the same date, you'll be given a 48-hour deadline to make a decision. The venue can deadline other clients within 48 hours if you request a date they're holding provisionally.

AMEX payments are accepted via PDQ machine over the phone, but incur an additional 5% charge of the total invoice value per payment. AMEX is not accepted through the online payment link system, only via the phone-based PDQ machine.

External catering is strictly forbidden at the venue. All catering must be provided by Searcys, the in-house caterers. For set menus, one dish choice from each course is required for the whole party, with dietary requirements catered for separately. Table plans and name places must be provided on the event day.

St James 1 can accommodate 60 people standing, while St James 2 holds 50 standing, 40 banquet, 32 cabaret, or 50 theatre style. The rooms are interlinking, allowing you to open them up for larger events or use one as a reception area with the other for dining.

AV requirements such as screens, projectors, microphones, and technical support are quoted separately from venue hire. Specific AV quotes are provided based on your requirements, with examples including main microphones, roaming microphones, and panel discussion setups for different room configurations.

While specific deadlines aren't detailed in the communications, the venue requires advance notice for final guest numbers, menu selections, table plans, and name places. Site visits can be arranged during the planning process, with availability typically offered between 10:00-17:00 on weekdays.
