What are the exact hire costs for the different screens at Curzon Bloomsbury?
Screen 3 (Phoenix) with 28 seats costs £682 + VAT per slot. Screen 5 (Renoir) with 150 seats costs £2,313 + VAT per slot. Evening slots are either 6pm-9pm or 8.30pm-11.30pm, with early slots at 5.30pm-8.30pm. If you want both evening slots, the price doubles.
What's included in the screen hire cost and what are the mandatory additional fees?
The hire cost includes use of the screen and projector, up to 3 handheld microphones, technical support, and a 30-minute technical rehearsal at 10.30am prior to the event day. Content conversion from non-DCP format costs £500 + VAT, and there are additional fees for late delivery or missed technical rehearsals.
How much does exclusive bar hire cost and what does it include?
Exclusive bar hire costs £300 + VAT per hour for up to 150 people standing. This is just for the bar hire - all drinks are charged separately on top of this hourly cost. There's no service charge on food and drinks and no minimum spend requirement.
What are the content delivery requirements and technical specifications?
Content must be delivered in DCP format 72 hours prior to the technical rehearsal. If you have another format, conversion costs £500 + VAT and content must be provided in ProRes or MP4 format. All content exceeding 20 minutes requires this conversion fee.
What's the booking process and payment timeline?
After providing contract details, you'll receive a contract via DocuSign. Once countersigned, full payment is invoiced ahead of the event. Coordination questions must be returned by a specified date (typically 2-3 weeks before) to arrange staffing and orders, with final food and drink numbers required 13 days prior.
What food and drink options are available and how far in advance must orders be placed?
In-house options include tea/coffee receptions, breakfast items, pizzas and light bites. For drinks, they recommend budgeting £6 per person per drink for house wine, prosecco, beers and soft drinks. All orders must be placed 2 weeks ahead of your event - orders after this cannot be guaranteed.
Can Curzon source films for private screenings and are there restrictions?
Yes, Curzon can source most films including new releases and classic titles, regardless of whether they're currently showing on-site. However, some films are unavailable for private screening or come at higher cost, so availability must be checked with the distributor once a venue and date are confirmed.
What are the current booking availability restrictions?
Curzon is currently taking bookings from 1st August onwards across all sites. The smaller 28-30 seater screens at Bloomsbury are not currently set up for hires, so only larger screens are available for private bookings.
What are the different time slots available and how does pricing vary?
Evening slots are based on fitting around two regular evening shows. Standard slots are 6pm-9pm or 8.30pm-11.30pm, with an early slot at 5.30pm-8.30pm. Weekend slots have peak pricing which is higher than weekday off-peak rates.
What happens if the bar isn't hired exclusively?
If you don't hire the bar exclusively, it remains open to the public. Since it's a busy bar, exclusive hire is required to close it to the public, which is why the £300 + VAT per hour fee applies for private use.
