Available for week-long exhibition hire, the North Gallery at Mall Galleries is an exceptional venue for small group shows or solo exhibitions. Frequently asked questions

Evening hire rates are £6,500+VAT for drinks receptions and £7,000+VAT for events like yoga sessions with exhibitions as backdrop. Full day hire costs £11,000+VAT, though reduced rates may be available for single gallery hire or half-day bookings. All prices exclude catering which must be arranged separately.

The venue can accommodate up to 350 people standing across all three galleries for receptions. For smaller events, the East Gallery is recommended for groups of 35 people, while the West Gallery offers plenty of space for activities like yoga sessions. The total space covers over 450sqm of dedicated events area.

The hire fee includes a Venue Supervisor and gallery staff, one security guard during the event, two parking spaces outside 17 Carlton House Terrace, parking permits for deliveries along the Mall, and use of furniture and technical equipment. Technical equipment includes a small stage, two roving microphones, adjustable lighting, AV and audio facilities, and free WiFi.

You must use one of Mall Galleries' approved caterers from their trusted supplier list. If you wish to use a caterer not on their approved list, there's a £500+VAT buy-out fee. Catering is not included in the hire fee and must be arranged and paid for directly with the chosen caterer.

Mall Galleries has very limited daytime availability, with no remaining daytime hire slots for the remainder of 2024. Next available dates for all-day blank canvas hire are February and August 2025. Evening hire has better availability than daytime slots.

Blank canvas hire (without exhibitions) is available but extremely limited. The venue offers all-day blank canvas hire for press events, with next availability in February and August 2025. Most events take place with current exhibitions serving as the backdrop, such as the Royal Institute of Oil Painters or Society of Botanical Artists exhibitions.

Filming must take place outside opening hours, either before 10am or after 5pm when exhibitions are running. The venue will not be a blank canvas during exhibition periods, and any filming will need to work around the existing exhibition displays and opening hours.

Booking well in advance is essential due to limited availability, especially for daytime and blank canvas hire. The venue frequently has to decline bookings due to lack of availability. Your event will typically take place with ongoing exhibitions as backdrop. For example, December events feature the Royal Institute of Oil Painters exhibition, while May events may coincide with 'Plantae 2025 – The 40th Anniversary Exhibition of the Society of Botanical Artists'. The specific exhibition depends on your event date and will be confirmed during booking.

Beyond the base hire fee, you must arrange catering through approved suppliers (costs vary by caterer), and there's a £500+VAT fee if using non-approved caterers. Security is included for standard hours, but extended security may incur additional costs. All prices are subject to VAT at 20%.
