What are the hire costs for screening events and what's included?
To hire the Cubic Theatre and Foyer between 09:00-17:00 costs £3,000 + VAT, with extra hours available at £550 + VAT per hour. All theatre AV is included: true 4k DCI cinema projection, large projection screen, Dolby Digital surround sound, lectern with desktop microphone, built-in stage, and basic microphone package (1 lectern mic, 1 handheld mic, 1 lapel mic).
What technical capabilities does the venue offer for film screenings?
Following a £500k AV refurbishment, the Cubic Theatre has professional DCP/DCI playback capabilities with true 4k resolution and Dolby Digital surround sound for a full cinema experience. The venue can support various formats and all equipment is operated by the in-house technical team who can be booked throughout your event.
Can I use the adjoining Foyer space and what are its limitations?
The Cubic Foyer provides space for guest registration, networking drinks, and houses a large screen for branding or promotional videos. Due to recent refurbishment, this space now has a capacity of up to 80 guests in a standing reception format, and if you have more than 80 guests, split breaks are advised to ensure guest comfort.
What catering options are available and can I bring external caterers?
Benugo are the exclusive in-house caterer for the Cubic Theatre and Foyer. External catering is not permitted as stated in venue policy - one inquiry was declined specifically because they wanted to bring external catering for a screening event.
How long can I provisionally hold the space before confirming my booking?
The venue can provisionally hold the Cubic Theatre space for 2 weeks. You need to confirm within this timeframe or the hold will be released.
What additional technical support is available and at what cost?
One technician is available for the first hour of your hire included in the base price. For events requiring more technical AV support, a dedicated Museum Technical Assistant can be hired for the full duration of your event, with additional microphones available at £35 + VAT per microphone.
What's included with the venue hire beyond the screening space?
The hire includes 4 poseur tables ideal for guest comfort during refreshment breaks, a large screen in the Cubic Foyer for branding or promotional content, and all delegates receive complimentary entry into the Museum on the day of your event. Cloakroom facilities and WiFi access are also provided.
Are there any restrictions on guest numbers or event types for screenings?
The maximum capacity is 110 guests for the theatre itself, with the adjoining foyer limited to 80 guests for standing receptions. The venue has declined events that exceed these capacity limits and has specific policies around catering that must be followed.
