The O2 Institute Birmingham main auditorium (capacity 2000) is a versatile events space available for everything from live music events, filming, weddings, parties, private dinners and receptions with seated balcony its suitable for awards ceremonies, exhibitions product launches and corporate conferences. With two additional smaller rooms (capacity 600 & 300) All rooms are unique and state of the art, and can operate independantly or simultaneously. With onsite catering facilities, staging, AV/Technical equipment and event management support we can offer a unique experience to suit any event.

The Digbeth Institute was originally built as a methodist congregational chapel at the turn of the 1900s. In 1955, it was bought by Birmingham City Council and used as a civic hall. It later became a music venue and has become an essential part of the Birmingham live music and club scene. A 2900 capacity music venue. It has three main rooms, the 2000 capacity main auditorium called "The Institute" which has a seated upper balcony, the downstairs room which holds up to 600 people called 'O2 Institute Birmingham2 and the 300-capacity upstairs room 'O2 Institute Birmingham3

As the site where coal was carbonised to produce crude gas, a retort house was the heart of a gasworks. The former retort house is located behind (south) of 50 Adderley Street and to the west of the Warwick and Birmingham Canal. It is a steel-framed structure which was clad in brick and built on a long, oblong plan.
