Dry venue hire starts from £18,000 + VAT for evening events, which includes the venue, an event manager, security, first aid, and cleaning/porter teams. For standing receptions, this covers a three-hour hire with guest access from 18:45/19:00 – 22:00, while seated dinners cost £20,000 + VAT for a four-hour hire with guest access from 18:45/19:00 – 23:00.

Catering, production, florist, and entertainment are all in addition to the facility fee and must be provided through the venue's approved suppliers only. Evening events cannot be hosted on Fridays as the gallery is open to the public until 21:00, so there isn't capacity for evening hire. The venue is also unavailable on New Year's Eve due to Trafalgar Square celebrations and road closures that prevent supplier access.

The venue is frequently fully booked, particularly in November, with limited availability. Daytime meeting spaces are currently under major capital refurbishment and will not be available until September 2025, with new spaces opening for bookings from Autumn 2025.

No, The National Gallery cannot host ticketed events according to their gallery policy. This restriction applies to all types of events regardless of size or purpose.

The venue can accommodate dinners for up to 350 guests and receptions for up to 1,200 people. Specific spaces have different capacities - for example, the Yves Saint Laurent room can accommodate up to 60 people and is priced at £10,000 + VAT.

The venue books up quickly, especially for popular dates in November and December. After initial enquiry, the next step is to arrange a site visit of the spaces, after which they can place your event date on hold. The venue is already taking bookings for Autumn 2025.

Exhibition access at The National Gallery is an exclusive benefit of Corporate Support only. To host events that include private views of exhibitions, you must contact their Corporate Team separately - this is not available through standard venue hire.

Evening venue hire starts from £15,000 + VAT (mentioned for some spaces) to £18,000 + VAT for most evening events. The Pigott Theatre evening hire starts at £15,000 + VAT. Smaller spaces like the Yves Saint Laurent room start at £10,000 + VAT, but this only accommodates up to 60 people.
