22nd September 2016

In mid-December we were invited along to 8 Northumberland Avenue’s 2016 Christmas showcase event. That's right, they were more than a year ahead, but 8 Northumberland haven’t gone completely mad. They were responding to an increased demand from clients wanting to book their Christmas parties as far ahead as January.

It’s also something we’ve also seen more of at Hire Space, people are booking earlier and earlier to ensure they guarantee the perfect date and venue for their event.

So as we head closer and closer to winter, we thought we'd look back at the fabulous themes 8 Northumberland has to offer this year.

So off I went, on a Wednesday afternoon, to London’s ‘most central venue’, where I was greeted by a glass of Champagne and an exclusive view of the venue’s 2015 Christmas themes in the Ballroom and Old Billiard Room, followed by an immersive introduction to the themes for 2016; 'House of Clues' and 'The Enchanted Forest'. Both were developed in partnership with AlchemyLive and Blue Hut Productions and finalised with feedback from clients.

We were introduced to the 'House of Clues' theme with canapes and a host of clues, some were hidden around the room, others were underneath the canapes. As we chatted and enjoyed a drink, we were encouraged to solve the clues and guess who had committed the murder, in which room and with which weapon - a bottle of Champagne was on offer for the correct answer, so everyone gave it their best shot.

Once the murderer had been identified, we sat down for dinner in the 'Enchanted Forest', the table was beautifully decorated with live vegetation and place mats made from tree stumps.

The main course continued on this theme, with ingredients sourced from 'The Enchanted Forest': a Game roll served with chestnut mash, pickled wild mushrooms, crisp parsnips, pancetta braised Brussels sprouts, and red currant jus.

For dessert, we were presented with a veritable smorgasbord of sweet treats, made especially for us by the in-house chefs and crafted into a beautiful forest floor, including an amazing tree stump cake and a 'wild' pick-n-mix selection.

Christmas 2016 obviously seemed a long way off at the time but we don't think it's ever too early to get booking and venues like 8 Northumberland are responding to these trends too.

So if you're thinking about Christmas 2016 and are looking for a beautiful, centrally located venue with some great themes, take a look at their profile.
