It's no secret that 2016 hasn't been the best of years. As a fresh new year dawns, let's try and remember legends like Bowie and Ali fondly, while convincing ourselves that Brexit and Trump won't have long-lasting effects. (They will.) Mainly, distract yourselves by looking forward to the 6 coolest London venues to take 2017 by storm.
Located in Canada Water, Printworks is a new, exciting and versatile London venue. Housed on 15 acres of private gated land, Printworks is made up of vast industrial warehouses that were formerly the print factory for the Daily Mail and The Evening Standard. Comprised of six warehouses that all exude urban charm, the complex is pretty impressive.
The blank canvas space is perfect for large scale events, experiential experiences and filming to name a few. It's also got fantastic transport links to central London and a 2am weekend license. We're pretty sure it's going to a big year for this new kid on the block.
2. Arsenal FC
The Emirates Stadium is another notably illustrious sporting venue with a number of spaces to suit your next event. With extensive space, the Royal Oak room will fit up to 1,200 people for standing receptions and up to 500 for dinner. Consider one of the beautiful and contemporary suites for a business event with a view, or the Emirates Lounge for a more open, light-filled experience, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. And luckily, you don't have to be a Gunners fan.
A 2017 event may take you to the [The Pearson Room](https://hirespace.com/Spaces/London/43129/The-Pearson-Room/Whole-Venue/Events) in Canary Wharf, a versatile space characterised by 1950s Hitchcockian styles. Art exhibitions, pop-ups, networking events and private parties alike will find a classy home here, with panoramic views of the wondrous Wharf adding a touch of urban marvel to the occasion. The venue is also a restaurant and bar, so inspirational food and drinks can be arranged; external catering is also welcome if preferred.
An East London landmark, Troxy first appeared as a luxurious cinema in 1933 (and showed King Kong as its first screening, in case you were wondering). Still retaining its majesty and grandeur, Troxy now accommodates a huge – and very specific – 2,227 guests for large-scale events. The Art-Deco, Grade-II listed space is perfect for events featuring a spectacle of some kind – awards shows, concerts, conferences and the like – but that's by no means a necessity.
5. Kensington Roof Gardens
If you're already looking ahead to the wonderful British summer time then this venue is for you. A firm London favourite and probably one of the city's most beautiful venues. With a half acres of gardens with natural wildlife, the rooftop provides a stunning backdrop for events. It boasts not one but three themed gardens, including live flamingos, so you can get creative, whether it's a BBQ, conference, press launch or just a good old-fashioned party.
The home of England rugby is even more of a world-renowned venue now, having hosted one of the London NFL games this year. The legendary sports venue is also a grand event space for a variety of occasions. Hire an Executive Box, with incredible stadium views, for a business meeting; hold a dinner in the England Changing Rooms – along with a pitch-side drinks reception; or perhaps head down to the historic Cellar for a Champagne and canapé reception.
