National Gallery

The National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of Western European paintings in the world from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Featuring a variety of event spaces from the beautiful picture galleries which can host dinners for up to 800 guests and receptions for up to 1,200, to our modern conference facilities for up to 328 delegates in the Sainsbury's Wing - where better to entertain your guests than the National Gallery located in the heart of London, Trafalgar Square.

Central Hall

This spectacular room, beautifully lit by an elevated glass rooftop, showcases Northern Italian paintings from the 16th century. The striking marble staircase entrance leads up to an intricately decorate ceiling of golden leaves, making it a truly regal setting. Just situated off the Portico Entrance, Central Hall is perfectly located to accommodate exceptional receptions for up to 200 guests, or dinner for up to 100.

Lecture Theatre

The Lecture Theatre is located within the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery on Level -1 and can accommodate up to 328 guests in a theatre style capacity. Included in the hire of this space has in built AV with a state of the art projector and recently upgraded audio facilities, all supported by a dedicated in house Audio Visual Team. The space also has a small area located outside in the foyer which can be used for refreshments or light lunches.

Temporary Exhibition Spaces

The National Gallery Sainsbury Wing Exhibitions are a continual programme of shows that are ground-breaking in their subject matter and highly coveted, both for public access and entertaining throughout the year. Featuring celebrated artists and paintings from the Gallery's own collection and across the globe from both private and public collections, these exhibitions can afford your event an exclusive opportunity to entertain at the heart of the most anticipated art exhibitions worldwide.

Turner Room

Two works by the 19th century English painter JMW Turner are hung in this room with two by the 17th century French landscape painter Claude in accordance with Turner's will. This intimate room can host up to 36 for a dinner or 50 for a standing reception.

National Dining Rooms

The National Dining Rooms are located within the modern Sainsbury Wing designed by the award winning architect Robert Venturi. This space has incredible views overlooking Trafalgar Square. Running along one wall is an exquisite mural by Paula Rego.

Wohl Room

The Wohl Room contains the Gallery's fantastic gold-framed collection of Venetian paintings and is lavishly decorated with green damask walls and a spectacular glass roof.

Conference Room 3

Conference Room 3 is located in the Sainsburys Wing of the National Gallery on Level 1 and can accommodate up to 10 in boardroom layout or 25 theatre style. This space has natural daylight and catering can be provided within the space. Included in the hire is a 70 inch LCD screen, PC and audio system, all supported by a dedicated in house Audio Visual team.

The National Cafe

The National Café is one of the largest event spaces in the Gallery and has its own private entrance overlooking St. Martin's In the Fields. The National Café has the look and feel of a 1920's Parisian cafe with its marble floors, high windows and beautiful hexagonal lights, a modern contrast compared to the Picture Galleries.

Portico Terrace

With unrivalled views overlooking the iconic Trafalgar Square, the Portico Terrace is an extraordinary event space. It is ideal for a summer drinks reception or alfresco dinning on the exquisite black and white mosaic floor. In inclement weather Central Hall can be used as a wet weather option. The Portico Terrace can accommodate up to 100 guests for a drinks reception or 250 when used with the Portico Foyer.

The Mosaic Terrace

Regally elevated above the Portico Entrance, the Mosaic Terrace is ideal for a drinks reception or intimate dinner on its exquisite tile floor. Beautifully lit by a glass ceiling and muted turquoise walls, the light delicately compliments the vibrant colours of the mosaic. With its intricate illustration of celebrated people of the 1920s and 30s, this unique artwork captures the charming versatility of the National Gallery. This space can accommodate up to 60 guests for a standing drinks reception.

Annenberg Court

Accessed by the Getty Entrance and located just off Central Hall, the Annenberg Court is the blank canvas of the National Gallery. Perfect for press or product launches, this fabulous space can be dressed to suit your event. The Annenberg Court has also fantastic access to the Picture Galleries making it the perfect location for tours around the permanent collection.

Yves Saint Laurent Room

The Yves Saint Laurent Room is an elegant gallery housing paintings mostly made in Paris in the middle of the 17th century. The distinctly French style of the works combined with the opulent colouring of fabric on the walls creates the atmospheric setting for a stylish drinks reception for up to 100 guests or dinner for 60 people.

Room 30

Room 30 houses the Gallery's most iconic Spanish paintings by artists such as Veláquez and Zurbarán, including the fabled Rokeby Venus. Situated just beyond the Central Hall, Room 30 is a perfect space that can host an elegant reception for up to 300 guests or a dinner for 220 guests.

Conference Room 1

Conference Room 1 is located within the Sainsburys Wing of the National Gallery on Level 1 and can accommodate up to 30 guests boardroom style and 75 theatre style. This room inter connects with Conference Room 2, has natural daylight and catering can be served to the back of the space. Included in the hire of this space is a projector, drop down screen, PC, audio system and DVD player all supported by a dedicated in house Audio Visual team.

Barry Rooms

The Barry Rooms are an impressive setting for any event with a spectacular domed roof, ornamental marble pillars and British portraits lining the walls. The delicately balanced combination of colourful paintings and regal architecture make the Barry Rooms one of the Gallery's most popular event spaces. The space is perfectly suited for receptions for up to 300 people or dinners for a maximum of 150 guests.

Wilkins Boardroom

This newly available space offers all the conveniences of a modern boardroom. Seating up to 64 in theatre or 16 boardroom style, this bright and modern meeting space has high quality audio-visual facilities, air conditioning and natural light. This area is ideal for daytime meetings, team away days, and presentations as well as intimate evening entertaining with receptions and dinners.

Gallery A

Gallery A is located in the main Wilkins Building and is accessed by the Orange Street entrance. This space has recently been rehung and explores a different way of experiencing the nation's collection of European paintings as it is hung in broadly chronological order, telling the entire story of 600 years of painting in a single space.
